2026 Election Information

The City of Wells will hold its municipal election in conjunction with the State General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. 

Municipal Offices To Be Elected

The following offices will be on the 2026 ballot:

• Mayor - 2 year Term
• City Council Member: 2 Positions - 4 year terms

Candidate Filing Period

Affidavits of Candidacy may be filed with the City Clerk as follows:

Filing Dates: July 14, 2026 – July 28, 2026 Filing Deadline: 5:00 p.m., July 28, 2026 Location: Wells City Hall, 125 South Broadway Wells MN 56097

Candidates must file in person or by authorized means as allowed under Minnesota law.

Election Day Information

State Primary Election: Tuesday, August 11th, 2026.

State General Election: Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026

Polling Hours: 7:00AM - 8:00PM

Polling Location: Wells Community Center: 189 2nd St SE, Wells MN 56097

Voter Information:

To vote in Minnesota, a voter must be:

• A U.S. citizen
• At least 18 years old on Election Day
• A Minnesota resident for at least 20 days before Election Day
• Not currently convicted of a felony (unless rights have been restored)

Same-day registration is available on Election Day with proper proof of residence.

Election Judges

Election judges are appointed by the City Council and trained prior to each election.
